You Are What You Eat

In the Bible, God often compares His Word to food. Consider the following examples:
When Jesus was being tempted by Satan He quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 saying, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Psalm 119:103- “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.”
Jeremiah 3:15- “Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding.”
1 peter 2:2, calls us to “long for the pure milk of the Word, so that by it we may grow in respect to salvation.”
Hebrews 5:12-14 calls us to graduate from milk, the food of infants, to “solid food”, 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
Human beings experience all different kinds of hunger, and there is no form of human hungering for which there is no food. However, experience tells us that foods will vary in quality and benefit. A steady diet of some will make you sick and others will leave you craving and unsatisfied no matter how much you eat. Many are trying to satisfy the craving of their soul by consuming spiritual junk food and they have grown fat-hearted and are sick in their spirits. Many more are emaciated, malnourished and their spiritual ribs are showing. They feel a gnawing hunger inside.

But as Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
