Unbelieving Brothers

In John 7:1-13 we read about an interesting exchange between Jesus and his siblings. Like everyone else, they are very excited about the miracles he has been working. So, in verses 3-5 they say to Jesus, “Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.” For not even his brothers believed in him.
Here’s the weird thing, Jesus’ own brothers believed in His miracle working abilities, but, on the other hand we are told, they did not believe in Him. How is it possible to believe in Jesus’ abilities but not in Jesus? You would think that seeing the signs would naturally lead to belief in all that they signify, but this is a strange species of unbelief that we see in Jesus’ brothers. I hope you can listen in as we worship God through the study of His Word. I am sure that God has some things He wants to say to us through these verses.
