Weak and Afraid

In this message, we’ll be introducing our next sermon series that will take us through eight of the conversion stories that we find in the book of Acts. It is my hope and my prayer that studying these passages together will be both an encouragement and a practical help to us in our own efforts to be witnesses for the Gospel right here in Aroostook County.

We need to be encouraged by these stories to believe that the power that is at work within us is stronger than the downward pull of these days and that sin-hardened hearts can be turned and transformed by the Holy Spirit. Each story that we study will also provide us with helpful clues about how God brings about this change through the imperfect but faithful efforts of people like you and me.

This eight week study will coincide with a time of missions emphasis during which we will be seeking to raise money to support those missionaries that we have partnered with in the Great Commission cause to reach the lost among the nations. During that time we will be hearing from many of our missionaries directly, and I am excited to see how God will use that time to stir us up to a renewed and growing passion for the work of world missions.

The conversion accounts in the book of Acts will also be the subject of our small group gatherings meeting during that same period of time. If you have not yet signed up for a small group I hope you will prayerfully consider doing so. Sign up sheets are located in the foyer at the back of the sanctuary or you can contact one of the pastors at the church during the week.
